Storage and Weather Update
The NYMEX September gas futures contract is currently trading at $3.92/MMBtu., $0.01 higher than it settled yesterday. The 12 month strip is trading at $4.22/MMBtu (Up $0.02) and next year's winter strip (Nov 11 - Mar 12) is trading at $4.24 (Up $0.02).
Storage
Working gas in storage was 2,906 Bcf as of Friday, August 19. This indicates a net increase of 73 Bcf from the week before.
Stocks were 140 Bcf less than last year at this time, and 55 Bcf below the five year average.
Weather
Tropical Storm Irene has now turned into a category 3 Hurricane with winds exceeding 115 mph.
Irene is
not expected to hit the gulf or affect any Natural Gas production as it is
expected to run up along the east coast, weakening before it makes landfall in
North Carolina.
