The NYMEX August gas futures contract is currently trading at $4.38/MMBtu., just $0.01 higher than it settled yesterday. The 12 month strip is trading at $4.57/MMBtu and next year's winter strip (Nov 11 - Mar 12) is trading at $4.65

CNG Stations

EQT Corp. opened one of the first stand-alone Compressed Natural Gas fueling stations in Pittsburgh last month.

The opening of this CNG station is the beginning of an initiative to develop "Green Corridors" for Natural Gas vehicles, placing at least one station every 50 miles or within 2 miles of designated highways.

About 25% of America's overall energy use comes from Natural Gas, but at this point, less than 0.1% of that is used for transportation. Companies like EQT are looking to change that by setting up the infrastructure to encourage the sales of CNG vehicles.

Utica Shale

While most companies have turned their attention to Marcellus shale, they may not be digging deep enough. A couple thousand feet below the Marcellus Shale formation lies the Utica Shale, an equally sized formation, which could open the door for even more Natural Gas production.
